Nick Ramm
post-bop hard bop contemporary jazz
Influences: Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter
Nick Ramm leads a five-piece ensemble of piano, bass, drums, tenor saxophone, trumpet and flute performing original compositions that blend hard bop sensibilities with global influences from Brazilian, Cuban and Ghanaian music. His writing draws directly from the Miles Davis playbook of the fifties and sixties, with horns arranged in unison lines over soulful piano voicings and rhythmic complexity ranging from funky contemporary grooves to abstract minimalism.
Personnel:
Nick Ramm (piano)
Pete Wareham (tenor saxophone, flute)
Byron Wallen (trumpet)
Tom Herbert (double bass)
Corrie Dick (drums)
