Vaughan Hawthorne-Nelson is an alto saxophonist leading a quartet with pianist Robert Mitchell, drummer Mark Mondesir, and bassist Larry Bartley. A master of post-bop composition and deep, spiritually engaged improvisation, he has spent decades playing alongside world-class musicians from Bheki Mseleku to Branford Marsalis. His most recent album, Redemption (2025), continues a legacy stretching back to the spiritually uplifting Emergence in the mid-nineties.
